Bumbu is a Rum brand owned by Sovereign Brands. Michelle has been involved with designing all marketing collaterals for Bumbu and this project page will be showcasing new product development and gift set packaging. The Bumbu line includes Sovereign Brands' flagship Bumbu Original, distilled and blended in Barbados, alongside Bumbu XO, an exquisite connoisseur's rum, and Bumbu Crème, a delicious cream liqueur, both made in Panama.
Bumbu's newest line extension Bumbu Crème is a perfect blend of Bumbu rum, select spices, and rich, decadent, real dairy cream. A rich - but not heavy - rum cream with a deep, complex array of aromas, including chai, coconut, and cinnamon. A perfect combination of sweetness, spice, and cream.
The main goal was to develop a package design that resembles the Cream liquid and look extra premium than competitors. The Bumbu Crème bottle is a gorgeous heavyweight painted white bottle with gold and black artwork, crowned by a custom-made gold stopper embossed with the Bumbu "X" insignia.
Michelle created a limited edition gift set that included one Bumbu bottle and 2 rocks glasses for Bumbu Original and Bumbu XO back in 2019. The 2019 version had a large X window die cut to emphasize Bumbu's brand identity (the X label). While the design outcome was appealing, it did not emphasize the bottle and rocks glass.
In 2021 through 2022, Michelle went through redesign of this gift set to so the consumers can see what Bumbu bottle looks like without being hidden behind the X window.
The 2019 version also was using a plastic tray which is not environmental friendly. One of the feedback received by the sale reps is that many of the distributors prefer environmental friendly packaging. Based on this feedback, Michelle has changed the material to paper pulp tray. The packaging is now 100% recyclable and much more environmental friendly.
